Kevin Thompson EAGMA
Born in Dorking, Surrey, Kevin Thompson has lived most of his adult life in Lowestoft.
In the late seventies his working in Lowestoft fish market, at a time when the docks were crammed with deep sea fishing vessels, became the catalyst for what has become his serious lifelong interest in painting.
He went on to study at Lowestoft School of Art and Design and in 1988 took up painting professionally. Since then he has shown work in many solo and numerous mixed exhibitions, including the Royal Society of Oil Painters and Royal Society of Marine Artists and for several years he has been listed in Who's Who in Art.
His work is held in private collections throughout the UK and Europe and it encompasses a diverse range of subject matter including busy streets and bar scenes, although he is probably best known for depicting his native East Anglian landscape and marine surroundings of the Norfolk Broads and pretty fishing villages along the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline.
Often taking inspiration by painting and sketching outdoors, utilising the information he gathers to produce larger studio paintings either in watercolour, oil, or acrylic.
