Aidan Kirkpatrick Hon. EAGMA 

Born in 1932 Aidan Kirkpatrick was education at Ulverston Grammar School and the Glasgow School of Art. He studied painting under Gilbert Spencer, R.A., Douglas Percy Bliss and Trevor Mackinson and took up etching under the guidance of Henry Holzer in 1974 and was given a Goldsmiths’ Travel Award in 1976.

He has exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, Royal Water Colour Society and Royal Society of Marine Artists and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1983. 

His many one-man shows in the East of England have included Snape Maltings, The Haste Gallery, Ipswich, the Crome Gallery, Norwich and the Holford Gallery, London with his work being held in collections all over the world.

For twenty years he served as chairman of the Group.

Very sadly Aidan Kirkpatrick died on Sunday 23rd November 2014. His enthusiasm, guidance and commitment will be greatly missed by us all. 

In 2014 in recognition for her lasting support for the group, Aidan's wife, Frances Kirkpatrick was made an honorary member of the group.
